Forging Industry-University-Government Partnerships for Education, Research, and Economic Impact: A Reflective Perspective
This talk will reflect on how engaging in forging university-industry-government partnerships can be an inspiring and rewarding path for academics in Business Schools at research-focused institutions. The talk will draw upon how early work experience in the industry, subsequent graduate education in mechanical engineering, industrial systems engineering, and operation management, and opportunities for inspiration and learning at major academic institutions have shaped this journey. Some insights will be shared on how to know whether this pursuit is the right avenue for an academician and how to enable a successful trajectory. The talk will also offer examples of how government grant-funded industry engagements focused on addressing problems faced by the industry for economic impact have also culminated in research publications in premier journals.
