Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ on 14th September to honour the official language of our country. The event, which was attended by the members of the administration, was organized as a part of the ‘Hindi week’ celebrations in the Institute.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Hussaini Bohra, Professor, Hindi Department, Bhupal Nobles University, Udaipur. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Bohra spoke about the rich history of Hindi as a language. He shared his thoughts on the ways in which continued existence of Hindi language can be ensured especially at a time when English is being preferred as the medium of communication. Dr. Bohra opined that the Hindi language should be promoted beyond its official status. There is a widespread apathy for the language which needs to be changed. He spoke highly of the manner in which Hindi was being taught in various parts of the world and expressed admiration for the recognition that the language has received. He advocated the gathering to make Hindi’s usage more prevalent and make people aware of the employment opportunities that expertise in Hindi would bring along.
