On 28th July 2020, IIM Udaipur had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Vishwanadh Raju, Global Head of Talent Acquisition, Axiscades, and Ms. Monika Marwah, University Hiring Leader for Asia Pacific & Japan, NCR Corporation for a session of e-Netratva – the Leadership Talk series.
Speaking about 'HR Analytics,' Mr. Vishwanadh illuminated the scope of application of analytics in different aspects of HR. Highlighting the need to identify competitors dynamically, he emphasized on the significance of competitor analysis in resolving attrition issues. He also explained how analytics could be used to turn information into insights and suggested that one should adapt fast rather than panicking in unprecedented situations. He elaborated that people are now happier to work from home, and the evaluation criteria for employees' performance have changed in the virtual workplace.
Ms. Monika focussed on the application of 'Design Thinking in HR' and engaged the audience in interactive discussions and activities. Explaining how design thinking is the intersection between business viability, people's desirability, and technological feasibility, she brought out how there is no perfect solution that fits all. She acknowledged people's tendency to 'overthink' and stressed the importance of identifying the right problems to find functional and meaningful solutions. Quoting Steve Jobs on "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works," she encouraged the audience to understand how concepts work before trying to apply them to business scenarios.
