IIM Udaipur’s 5th Annual Convocation took place on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017. This was the first convocation to be held at the permanent campus in Balicha.
IIMU was honoured to welcome Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson of SBI, as the Chief Guest.
162 students graduated – 144 from the two-year full-time Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) and 18 from the 15 month full-time dual degree Post Graduate Program in Management for Executives (PGPX).
In his remarks, Mr. Pankaj Patel, Chairman of the IIMU Board of Governors, talked about the need to continue building on the institute’s achievements: “Like the campus, the Institute is still a work in progress. But one thing has not changed: from day one, dreaming big has been a hallmark of IIM Udaipur. Building on the proud legacy of the established IIMs, we set a lofty goal – by 2030, IIMU would take its place among the best management institutes in the world. Already, significant progress has been made.”
“But however impressive our accomplishments to date, we must continue to raise the bar and move to the next level of achievement in all our programs and activities. There is no room for complacency since our quest is nothing less than a level of excellence comparable to the best global standards.”
Prof. Janat Shah, Director of IIM Udaipur, took pride in the fact that IIMU is the first of the new IIMs to move to their permanent campus. He thanked the graduating students for the role they played in executing the move, which has been an arduous journey. “I want to say that we would not have been able to arrive at this day, here on this campus, without your truly extraordinary efforts. We asked you to live through a very difficult few months and you said yes. We asked you to adjust and adapt in so many ways and you responded with maturity and absolute commitment.”
He went on to tell the students that “At IIMU, we have worked hard to make sure that this is a place where you would develop a strong moral compass. As our alumni, the way you conduct yourself will reflect on IIM Udaipur and all the people who have taught you inside and outside the class. You have spent the last two years learning to value ethics and building a strong personal character. Let these guide you at every step of your life.”
