IIMU offers students numerous options to study or work abroad for periods ranging from two weeks to three months during the course of their two year program. The international exposure gives them the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture, develop a broader business perspective, expand their global network and widen their personal and intellectual horizons. Opportunities include:

Student Exchange Program (STEP)

Students have the possibility of spending the fifth trimester (one out of six trimesters in the entire course) at one of five partner management schools in France and Germany during which they take equivalent electives (Master's degree, second year)
    • France:
      • EDHEC
      • EM Normandie
    • Germany
      • HHL Leipzig School of Management
      • European Business School
      • Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

International Business in Practice

IBP is an innovative elective course in the second year syllabus. Student teams act as consultants to clients in locations like Bangkok and Dubai on a clearly defined project. Teams of 5-6 students work from the clients' offices for two weeks. The course involves a preparation phase for 3 weeks before and a reflection phase of two weeks after the project. During their stay they maintain a diary of their experiences and on their return they submit a reflection paper which summarizes their learning. Client feedback is an important part of the grading for this course.

International Corporate Internship

Each year a number of students have been placed in summer internships in locations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, London and Malaysia.

Global Business Project

The GBP is a four month action-based learning course with participation from six leading universities across the globe. For each project, a team of 5-6 students from across geographies works on a general consulting and strategic problem for prominent multinationals including P&G, GE Healthcare, Google and PepsiCo. The GBP gives IIMU students an opportunity to work with fellow MBAs from different backgrounds, countries and schools in a virtual and face-to-face team setting. They apply functional, cross-cultural, foreign language and virtual teamwork skills to produce strategic advice that is focused, compelling and actionable.
